Keyboarding Syllabus

Course Description:  Keyboarding is a half-year introductory keyboarding course designed to develop alphabetic and numeric computer keyboarding skills.  Basic forms of written correspondence will be covered.  You will have the opportunity to use an IBM computer for personal applications.  This course will emphasize proofreading, accuracy and speed.

 

Requirements & Expectations

Materials Required for Class

 

1.    Each student will need to bring a pen and/or a pencil to class each day.

2.    Each student will be provided a folder in class to store all handouts.  Students are responsible for taking care of their folders daily and keeping them up-to-date.

 

Behavior & Expectations

 

1.    Be on time to class.

2.    Always be prepared with materials necessary for class.

3.    Show respect for your classmates, yourself, the equipment and your teacher.

4.    All assignments must be completed on time.  Points will be deducted for being late.  You are responsible for any work missed.

5.    Be sure to prepare for quizzes and tests and get help if you need it.

6.    You are expected to do your part in keeping this room clean and free from graffiti.

7.    Because our classroom is a computer lab there are special rules that pertain:

         No food or drink will be allowed in the classroom.

         Do not touch the computer unless directed to do so.

         Chairs should not leave your computer station (no rolling around room).

        Be sure to push your chair in each time you exit your station.

         Raise your hand when in need of assistance.

8.    All other school rules and regulations apply in this classroom.

 

Grading Procedures

 

Student grades will be determined by averaging tests and projects (67%), homework, in-class assignments, quizzes, participation, etc. (33%).  At the end of unit students will be given a chapter test covering the information taught.  A final examination will be given in January.
